Price of scrap metal

I'm getting $150 a ton for tin and $160 for unprepared steel. Have heard of higher prices, but not much competition around here.

Saw two complete dozers in the scrap pile a while back.

West Quincy MO, $230.00 per ton for shred, that means if you can get it on the scale and a magnet sticks to most of it, you are good to sell.

Since road restrictions are on UP here (lots of scrap metal is on roads you cant get a heavy truck on this time of year) we got $305 a ton for Tin the other day from work.

Really only one show in town here in my part of NW iowa but last time I hauled (couple weeks ago) my load of Tin and Wire got graded Unprepared and I think the price was $210 or $230.

I am on the dealer list up there and had a buddy haul up a couple days later. He had #2 and got something like $180. Most of the weight he had was the frame from a old truck and if he would have known he should have graded #1 with less torch time also.

Don't know what he had for a wait but I was in line for a hour for the steel.

John, it hasn't changed much over the winter. When I hauled the combine up there in big pieces I got $160. This was back in january. One load of prepared was $200. Jim

In Colchester, IL per ton:

$210 for farm equipment, unprepared.
$200 for automotive.
$225 for number 2 prepared.
$245 for number 1 prepared.
50 cents/lb for aluminum.
