I have use Engine Brite comes in a sray can it is a engine degreaser cleans inside of tanks real good leaves them shinny and i believe under $4. a can

Take your lawn tractor jack it up on jackstands strap the tank to the drive tire. Put a hand full of nuts, washers, bolts loose in the tank. Put tractor in gear and let run in 1st for a hr or 2. It works awsome.

I've done lots of motorcycles, collect them. Two ways to go,,,, I'm assuming you have rust your trying to clean out. Remove the petcocks, they are usually alloys, both of these will destroy them. Make a plug to plug the hole, cork, rubber, wood etc.

#1, Milkstone remover, delute 50% and fill the tank. Don't leave overnight, check every hour till clean in side.

#2 Muriatic acid, delute 75% water, can buy at any pool supply store, home depot, lowes etc.. Same process, watch the tank, check often it can eat too much.

In both cases, important it is full. Lots of rust on the top of the tanks where the condensation hangs out.

Once done rinse well with lots of water, then stick a blow gun in there and air dry.

Both these can be resued many times, i store mine in a 5 gal plastic jug.

Did he buy a kit to clean the tank and also coat the inside? Kreem is a popular brand sold at motorcycle dealers. Follow the instructions exactly and it does a good job.

Phosphoric acid is a lot gentler than muratic acid. Mix about 50-50 and swish around till it looks shiny. I would stay away from putting water back in to rinse it though. It can flash rust real quick like. I rinse out with a small amount of gas, each time putting new in till it is clear, then rinse with some diesel to oil it till it gets gas in it again.

Wish I woulda known you a year ago I maybe would have found a better home for this all original CB 750-A with 7100 mile on her. Left it go for 1400.00
