Deere LT 160 w/ a bad engine?

I came across a 5 year old Deere LT 160 Hydro, 42 inch cut with a 16hp Kohler that the owner says is blown. In the pictures I've seen the mower looks almost new. Question is I've got a spare 21hp Briggs that came out of an Yard Machine mower that had crapped the trans in it. How much work would be or would it even be possible to put the Briggs in the Deere? I'm betting that if it would be possible that there have to be some major work done. Anybody ever do an engine swap with the LT Deere's?? Thanks.

There are plenty of guys that hang out on the Garden Tractor board, below, that can tell you in a heart beat. Re-post there. Tom

The hydrostat is belt driven. There are two pulleys on the output shaft of the motor. One for the hydro and one for the mower deck. I"d check to see if the shaft diameter and keyway are the same. Can"t speak to the mounting bolt holes. There is a little bit of room underneath the hood but clearance could be an issue. They are a nice mower, not fancy but ours has held up well.

I dropped a 18hp Briggs Vangard V-twin in a JD 140 in place of the Kohler 14hp single cylinder... Make your measurements very carefully.
