Hauling schedule, anyone having any luck?

Last week I posted about needing a Farmall H, and a Little Genius plow hauled from East, South East Indiana, to Southern Ohio, on the Ohio River, and never got one offer, or nibble. Is it getting that bad on there? I use to get stuff hauled all of the time on there, but nothing this time.

I got my load covered that I needed hauled.Call Rick Lee,he covers that area and is very professional. You can find his listings in the haul schelude.

It"s kind of a hit and miss proposition. I"ve done 25-30 hauls and had 5-10 hauls done for me from the board. Between haulers that want a deposit then never do the haul and customers that want the haul done for little or nothing,I suspect a lot of people really dont view it as viable.

Hi Guys; AHHHH, yes, hauling. We can't find a hauler to haul a 27 Buick, and a 79 Ford tractor. We have hauled stuff ourselves, home from Ca. 32' trailer, dually diesel. I did call a Mn trucking company, (who has hauled for us before) and last yr it was 1500.oo for a full tractor trailer. This yr for a18ft tractor, and a 15ft car, the price is 3000! Well, we understand about fuel prices also. Now, we are thinking, about hauling the stuff ourselves. 8ft camper on the back of the dually, just in case. Turn the winter into a vac. break. The car and tractor are at my BIL ranch, and we could visit folks we know on the way. We thought we could get a working vac. for the money! Then on the other hand, dropped off in the farm yard, isn't all bad!! Any ideas? Thanks Bobmn

I have tried to haul some of the stuff on there, but they all seem to find someone that will haul for $1 or 1.50 a mi.That doesn,t hardly cover my cost let alone the extra time and miles to take care of it.Then the other thing is they will wait for 5 or 6 days and call,so I have either done the trip or can't go then. But that is their deal and can handle it the way they see fit.So I don't look at it too hard because for the time and trouble I can just go and be done.

any more, if you have the truck, better off buying a trailer and do it yourself, trailer can pay itself off in time. no waiting for someone to be late or no show. as robertmn says, make a vac out of it. bought me a 26ft goose, "get r done" by myself, at my own schedule.

I may just make a Tractor Ride, out of it, it is only about 110 miles. If some big cities were not in the way, I would, but still may have to take the 'Scenic" route.

I hauled for someone last fall. It was a lot of reading, researching on the map, phone chasing, etc. Very little yield for the aggravation.
You might be better off to haul it yourself and put your empty scheule on the net, or look around for hole-fillers for the backhaul. But then again i was at a disadvantage, as I had a narrow trailer with perm. sideboards.
Good luck.

I tried locating some haulers off of the hauling site, but the responses I got were "NUTS". They
have no qualms about asking you for $2.50 per mile
and then telling you what a good deal it is.
I love the ones who have a 48 footer, but can only haul 6 ton? I get a 53 foot drop deck, back hauls out of Texas to Pa for $1.30 a mile. Weight has never been an issue either. These guys make there money on the way down and pay for their fuel and time on the way back. Keep looking there are some sane people out there.

I ended up putting it on U Ship also, Liberty Indiana to Higginsport Ohio. I wouldn't mind paying in the $2 area, cash on delivery, no receipt.

I used to watch for hauling on there. It has gotten so bad that I have not looked in over a year. The guys wanting stuff hauled for .50-1.00 per mile and then wanting it insured. I usually was using a semi and a fifty-three foot drop deck. The last haul I did was to a jerk over in PA that had a driveway that a pickup would have trouble with. He threw a fit because I would not put the non running tractor in front of his garage. Said he was going to cut my payment by half. I told him no problem. I would just drop the tractor back where I got it in WI. He saw the light and paid me what we had agreed on. I dropped it in his drive and left. I WILL NEVER go through this aggravation again. So if I need a back haul I go through a broker and get normal freight.

There used to be a guy here who could haul 4 tractors- If you weren't in a hurry, he'd take your info, then when he needed to fill out a load, would consult his book and find the one that fit best with his route. It took 8 months, but he hauled a Moline 4 Star from central Missouri to western Washington for $500. I gave him a $100 tip.

Like he said, that's $500 more than I'd have got with the 3/4 load I had.

Not many operate like that, though.
