WW1 Memorial

My wife and I visited the WW1 Memorial in Kansas City today. Quite an experience. If you ever have the opportunity it is something you will be glad you spent the time/money on. They are open 10-5 and you could easily spend the whole day there. One of the sad realizations is how the technology contributed to war and further advanced because of war. Simple example, after so much bombing the fields were too beat up for the mules to pull the cannons - so the cannons were fitted to be pulled by tractors.

WW1 was the first war with the machine gun to be used extensively. Instead of casualties in the hundreds it became tens of thousands, plus the poison gas, the nasty trench warfare.
IMO---WW1 was the worst war mankind fought.

I've not been yet. Should take the trip downtown, as I've got several family members in the veteran's memorial bricks and everyone speaks highly of the experience.
