Is this an uncommon size?
I see a lot of ads for 14.9 x 28", 34" and 38" but rarely even see a listing for 30".
I do see them listed as fronts on some 4wd tractors but not much else.
I'm halfways looking for some used ones and just don't see that size listed anywhere.
Even the Firestone site doesn't list them.
These are for a Ford 4000 that I'm putting together. I hate to go 16.9 as I'm trying to keep the height down if I can.
Just wondering.

They aren't as common as 16.9x30's, but they ARE out there, both as fronts on FWA tractors, and rears on a few. I'll keep my eye open, as I may be heading your way in a week or two...
If you want, I can give RCFS a call to see what they have on hand.
Pretty sure Titan still makes them.

Just to add in two cents worth of info. When I was looking at new rears for my WD I mentioned something about MFWD front tires for rear tires on old tractors. The tire dealer told me that some of the sizes interchange, but said the tires designed for front end use were a much heavier tire. His opinion was that they would be too stiff to give good traction on the older lighter tractors.

UD:

I cannot answer your question about 14.9X30s but the 66 4000 S-O-S that I once owned had the original 16.9X30s on it.

Over the last two years i have been on the look out for 30" tires for two tractors. I just can't afford new at this time and the old ones were rotting out. Never saw a 14.9 over the two years. I had to go from 16.9 to 18.4 on my MF265 it's all I could find that was any good, and I had to buy a new blem 18.4 for my MF85. It was the original size. I have a JD2550 and it has original 16.9's on it.

Guess it's like realty.... location, location, location. I saw several sets of used 30" tires at a consignment sale last month, thought I can't say for sure there were any 14.9's. I know there were at least 2 16.9's though. Saw a used 16.9 at RCFS last time I was in their warehouse, too. (I'm in n/w WI)

14x30 is the old size for 16.9x30. no problem getting them here from firestone or titan. dont think you will find a 14x30.

Yeah being heavier, probably several ply, and no fluid needed, and nearly punchure proof is my bet, no repeat sales for him this millenium! I would hit up Case IH dealers too, better chance for that size used than an old ford shop. I had a farmall W6TA that had 30", that was 20 years ago- pre internet, couldn't find a used one - or a dealer that could order a new one anywhere I went. That and the 26" on the D series AC's was something that turned me right off something up for sale. With the WWW, you might find a new set with free shipping! Did Orig poster check 'Tucker tire' in Tenn?
