Anyone ever have an Allis Chalmers 8550?

Just wondering, one up for sale and was wondering how much of a ripper I could pull, parts availability and how they ran. They look like an awesome big ole brute with those twin stacks. Thanks

My neighbor has one and he likes it. He also is a die-hard AC man. He really does not have the tools to really work it. He thinks it is a little thirsty when it comes to fuel consumption but he is used to running 130 PTO hp tractors and under.

We had a 7580 black belly. It was a good running tractor. Watch out for the drop box, weak point and $$$ to fix.

neighbor had one for a while. he ran it wide open, until it eventually blew up. about that same time, i was reading that some allis dozers used the same engine, but at a few hundred less rpm's. that seemed to be the key to engine life.
they sure look impressive.
