seatbelts......

Was the 1st one at an accident yesterday about a mile from the house.
Pretty, but kinda scatterbrained little girl from down the street was driving a mercedes station wagon doing whatever it ws that would make her wreck on a perfectly flat, straight road in perfect weather. I had just turned off onto the road in time to see her run off on ene side, try to correct, and go off the other side and flip the car a couple times. Junk flying out of the car wasn't surprising cause she was never known for housekeeping skills. By the time I got there, I realized that one of the thinks that flew out was her. Poor kid looked like her upper half had gone through a cuber. Done my best to keep her calm and immobile with the help of a couple soldiers that stopped til the medical folks got there. It's gonna take a lot of bondo to patch her up presentable but she'll never be the same. Thing is, the car wasn't really hurt that bad and she'da prolly just been shakin a little had she been strapped in.

Dave2,,,,, you need to get schooling on Grammer,
but maybe you don't care, and just like putting out bad grammer, maybe your wife can school you.
let see that picture you have of yourself looking at what you have inside.

if she would have had the belt on, she prolly would have walked away with barely a scratch. having the shop here its pretty amazing seeing a mangled car and having the driver with minimum injuries. went out on a accident call about a month ago, f250 4x4 blew a stop sign and broadsided a ford taurus. truck rolled 4 or 5 times , ended up on its roof. taurus got it right in the cowl and drivers door. truck guy had minor injuries. taurus driver got airlifted to the hospital, broke leg, collarbone, couple ribs, cuts and bruises. passenger gal broke her leg, 4 year old boy in the back seat bumped his head, but was fine. air bags deployed on both vehicles.

If you can understand what he is talking about don't wory about his grammer. All of us aren't University Grads. Some don't have a 12 th grade education. If you want to correct someone go to a forum that has someone of your equal. you don't need to be on this one.

About 10 years ago, I hit a snowdrift and hit the concrete median divider head on, on I96 near Brighton. Totaled the van. Wasn't until I got home and took off my shirt that I saw the big bruise I had on my shoulder from the seatbelt. I would've gone thru the windshield without it.

Buickanddeere. I do believe you have a great sense of humor. Thanks for the display.I guess it's this time of year when the nay Sayers immerge from the dark and dreary caves in which they live just to show their so-called intelligence,or lack there of. True , Ignorance does impress, makes one prone to re-inter the halls of greater education. Love Dave's stories. regardless of typo errors. Regards LOU.

If you do the math, even a 25mph crash, without a seatbelt is the same as jumping off a 2 story building. And for those who think they don't need a belt because they don't expect an accident-if you did expect it, wouldn't you stay home instead? Also, the belt has to be worn the right way. If you were chaining down your car on a trailer, would you run the chain over the hood, roof, trunk, or through one window and out the other? I hope you attach to the frame or axles. Make sure to run your belt over YOUR frame(hips and shoulders)NOT OVER YOUR STOMACH OR UNDER YOUR ARM!!! To anyone reading this who doesn't wear a belt I AM NOT CRITICIZING YOU I WANT YOU ALIVE!! I know a couple who were in a small accident, he(a firm believer in belts) was barely shaken, she(a firm non-believer) was in the hospital for over a month(now a firm believer).

There is no excuse for not taking the time to run one's reply through a spell checker before posting.
I've always wondered why some folk are proud of a lack of education? Maybe related to being proud of being poor?

a few years ago a guy in a pickup pulled out in front of me.I was in my old ford f350 didnt even have time to hit brakes.i hit him in his drivers side door at 60 mph. i had no seatbelt on but bent the steering wheel in half. he had a seatbelt on and was in hospital for 3 months and he will never be right as long as he is alive.

Don't want to start a fight. But there are two sides to the seatbelt issue. I was in a wreck where the cab of my truck was crushed above the drivers seat. When the pole feel on the cab it pushed me over to the passenger side. Seatbelt on and it would have killed me. Sister in law had her neck broken by an airbag in a minor wreck. No airbag and she would have walked away.

So to me they can be good and bad.

Buickanddeere I don't think that spelling features are related to non education and poverty issues. Years back. education took a back seat to working the farm, any job to keep food on the table, bills paid etc. I'm old enough to have been through some tough times. Knew a few fellows who couldn't read nor write and was quite productive in our society.Spelling is certainly an issue when doing a work application/resume,writing articles, books, but not so important here on this forum. Mis spelling doesn't infuriate me in the least. I just consider the poster wanted to get his reply on board. JMHO. Regards LOU

Had a cousin that felt the same way you do always buckled up scorned others that didn't
one day going home to dinner at his Moms he was late. come to find out he was in an accident.Another driver came across the road and hit him head on. He was pinned in the wreckage for over an hour., but was joking with the response team even declaring that if he wasn't strapped in he could have laid down on the seat and wouldn't have pinned by the steering wheel and dash. when they released the pressure off his chest he went into shock and never came out of it .

I knew an old gent who always said he wouldn't be caught dead, in a seat belt! And even cut the ones out of his old car.
One night, he was pulling out of his favorite bar, and a car coming along the road hit his car on the drivers side, sort of turning his car into the same direction of movement. This swung his old car around, the door popped open, and old guy fell out between the cars, and got fully squashed when they came together! Yep--he wasn't caught dead in his seat belt! Remember? He cut them out of his car!
Heck, as soon as my kids got to where they could sit up in the cars, i put homade seat belts in both vehicles. Made my own, and nobody went anywhere until they were on and fastened. We lived near the big city, and safety was and is my greatest priority. Out in the country might be safer, but what about some half drunk city guy coming back from a drinking party, or a weekend, with a snoot full? And he hits ya!?
OHH, yeah! You are just as dead as that groundhog ya ran over, the week before!
We've had a lot of deaths of motorists lately, here-a-bouts, because the belts were lying on the seat! And, tests have shown you are much safer and likely to survive a roll-over crash, or even a side or front head on crash. The belts keep you from getting impaled on the gear shifter, or hitting the dash at speed, or getting tossed out. The newer cars are made with high-strength steel, and don't crush easily! Our local fire companies, who usually get called out on all of the wrecks, had to buy stronger "Jaws of Life", so they'd be able to cut open a mangled car to gain access to the injured folks inside! The original tools wouldn't cut the new steel parts.
But, like they say:"This is a free country"!Everybody is free to decide if they want to leave early, or stay around to see their babies fully grown!

What kind of Bull Crap is that. I don"t see antyhing in the post about being proud of lack of Education. Are you a teacher by chance? Or somebody who had a free ride to school?

I know alot of guys who never went past the 8th grade who have done very well in life and don"t ask anybody for anything. Including myself,so if you think only so called well educated fools are the only ones who get it, think again
