Have knocked over my share mowing fencerows and roadsides. Once suggested to a bigwhig with Dow Chemical Co.that someone should invent a round plastic throw ,impregnated with herbicide that could be placed around those rotary mower targets. His response was, why don't you do it?
Well here is your chance. lol.

Yes they do and the repairman just don't understand that when you are mowing weeds you can,t see them till it is too late when the weeds are 3 ft. taller then the ped.

Kind of like a water balloon eh? Problem would be if easy enough to break upon impact they'd be too easy to break during transport and handling.

Just my opinion. Does seem like a good idea though--toss at the target area as you mow around/by it.

i mowed ditches for the county 1st year out of high school, the grass was taller than the hood of the tractor, i didn't see it, but when the rotary mower hit the pedestal i knew something was up, it made quite a racket. shut the pto off and lifted the bush hog up and pulled foward, it looked like a million wires chopped up. i called the boss on the cb and he said he would call the phone company, and i better get to the other side of the county before phone company guy got to the spagetti unless i wanted an earfull.

The phone company here has a 4x4 treated post that sits about 6 feet out of the ground next to each one in the rural areas. They also have little orange signs on them warning of buried cables. They must have learned from past problems.
