Working the Hay Field

Nancy and I took some vacation time last week and did a little work at the farm.

Used <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0e1GucH8vA">"Big John"</a> our 55 70 diesel and the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6fcMX0fQ6o">disk harrow</a> on a small area that hasn't done too good the last couple of years.

Visited with the County Extension Agent and discussed our soil sample.

Used <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mnEXwWTmX8">"15"</a> our 53 70 to pull the fertilizer buggy.

Applied about 3,000 pounds of 0-0-62 fertilizer.

Decided to add lime this year to reduce the acidity in the soil.

Loaded about 26.5 tons with our Ford 2810.

Certainly enjoy getting back on the tractors and back in the hay fields.

Last week was Spring Break for me. I spent five days on Lake Sam Rayburn and had a great time, but would have had a better time on one of your tractors.

Is that spreader wheel on the back turning fast enough or is that just the way it looks in the video?

Probably just the video.

Has about a 20ft radius from the back.

Usually make two passes on the field; north and south, then east and west.

Glad you liked the photos.

Spreader belongs to El Dorado Chemical in Pittsburg, TX.

They charge $25 for renting the spreader.

Had good luck with our tractors during the vacation.

Got "Uncle Earl" started with no problem and moved it to the equipment shed.

Got "Big John" started with no problems.

Got "15" started with no problems.

Got "Vernon" started and moved it to the tractor shed and put on a new 13.6 rear tire.

You would have had a choice of 10 tractors to ride.

Hope you enjoyed your Spring Break as much as we did.
