O/T Fuel Mileage

Darnit! :>)

Had to haul a cow to the Vet's for a C-section. After all day in labor, the calf just wouldn't come up into the canal no matter how hard we pulled. (However, the Vet sliced 'er open and saved both the cow and calf) Yipee! :>)

Thing is tho, with that cow and trailer at 80 mph for 50 miles, the darned mileage dropped clear down to 15.9! Guess I can live with that! :>)

Glad the momma and calf are doing good...man oh man what I would give to see 15.9....the ole 98 Chev with the 454 doesn't see the high side of 10 with a trailer behind her. lol

We're gettin' there.

Doc said that this medicene would take 6-weeks to 2-months to "grab ahold" and my mind had to 're-route' it's little electrical connections (whatever that means). Going in for another sit-down with the doc in a few minutes.

I lost a lot of "detail", especially the tiny stuff. Took me 4 days to learn to type again and I'm still not as I was. Keep makin' mistakes and have to continually 're-read' what I write.

Had to haul a trailer load of horses 100 miles distant....got down there to the barn and I'd forgotten to latch the gooseneck ball, hook up the lights, chains, and the darned tailgate was still down. Had to learn all over how to do that.

MOst embarrising tho was the day the neighbor had to tell me to get the bulls away from the cows. Had absolutely no memory of that need at all....... :>(

Every day more is coming together tho.

Thanks,

Allan

Glad your back on here. Was this a first-calf cow? Wow, look at that flat open land! Don't see anything other than the truck and trailer. I grew up in flat land ND, but yours looks even flatter and more open. I need to take a trip across western Nebraska (I assume that's where this is) and see the flats in person.

Glad to hear you're improving.

Hope you didn't forget how to pluck those guitar strings!

had a vet give one of my cows a C-section 10 years ago cost me 450 dollars, will never do that again, shoulda made burger.

How long did the cow live afterwards and how many more calves did she produce? Did the calf live? Think about all these variables.

Ya but you sure can buy alot of gas for the $40,000 dollars you saved from staying with what you have.

Fella who used to work for me had a daughter and son-in-law who ranched out by Valentine, Nebraska. From their house on the ranch, the closest place they could buy a hamburger was 42 miles.

That being said, I once held a camera on the dash of my car near Dalhart, Texas and hit the shutter release. The absolute only thing in the picture was the highway disappearing over the horizon several miles ahead.

15.9 is pretty good. Last time I pulled a gooseneck at 80 it was 13. And I thought that was good considering the older diesels got a lot less then that.

Had a little problem with that memory thing last summer. Mini-stroke MRI showed no damage so I like that. Don't have any bad after effects. Hand in there time is best healer they say.

Glad to hear you are getting better. Hang in there, we all like hearing from you. Travelled across Nebraska on route 12 last fall. How far was I from you?

If you remember to zip your fly when you're done things are ok, if you forget to unzip before your start you have a problem...

Thanks Pard, really appreciate that.

The most prized comidoty is our health. Loose that and things turn south in a bigghurry.
