We have a plow for our cub and it has a chain to attach it to the fast hitch on the rear, is there anything better than a chain. We are new to cub and don't know much about them. Thanks Libby

You should try the Farmall and Implement forums. What's wrong with a chain as long as it raises and lower's the plow? Hal

That is all the chain does is raise the plow. It doesn't dictate depth, etc. The hoop draw bar and lever that adjust level of drawbar sets draft depth.

For depth control in the furrow, you need this part. It raises and lowers the Cub drawbar when it is in the inverted position under the floor board. The unit shown is for a reversible plow (left and right) but is fine for just one plow. The single plow depth control only attaches to right side of tractor. You can see pictures at the Cub Forum on another site but I don't know the URL.

BTW, if you cannot find the IH depth control, you could make one using a Cub by-pass block (check eBay), hydraulic valve, and hydraulic cylinder. The lower position of the drawbar should be about 1" above the ground when the right tire is in the furrow. That will give you about 7" of turned earth. You will need some ballast on the Cub to do that.

First off, it's not a fast hitch if the plow lifts with a chain.

Second off, the chain is correct.

The depth control pictured above is for a 2-way plow. The correct depth control looks like the lever part on the right.
