I have a 1944 farmall M and need to replace the front transmission seal. I can't seem to be able to slide the drive yoke out far enough to remove and allow access to the seal. Do I have to remove the clutch and associated shaft? Thanks.

My cousin has a md with the same problem. his local mech says he'll have to split the tractor.

dont know about an m , but an h doesnt need to be split, the shaft will come out with a bit of wiggling on an h after removing the flex joint

Loosen the pressure plate, take out the coupler bolts (painful if stuck) remove shaft remove center bolt in coupler, remove coupler. Jim
