OT! Air Car called MiniCAT!

I got an email yesterday about a car they are going to make in India. The TATA company is going to start selling them this summer in India.
The car runs on compressed air and has a small compreesor to fill tank in about three to four hours. Then is good for about ten hours of driving. Picture looks like a Mjnj-Cooper on a diet--pretty small.

Mr Tata is an incredible man. You'd probably find his story very interesting. Very much a self-made man, a multibillionaire with a keen sense of wanting to help the poor in his country.

Compressed air transportation has been around for a long time. Google Porter compressed air locomotives! Their real issues are two:
The compression of air wastes energy through heat, That heat is not powering the car, it goes away when the tank cools (and shrinks the air in the tank as well. Heat waste is serious in this case.
The second is energy density. Compressed air (even in a dramatically reinforced tank at 10,000 psi will not have enough energy to operate a vehicle for very long. Air locomotives filled their tank (big tank) every few trips into the mine. Jim

Last report I read, test car had traveled 7 km on a recharge. Hope it's improved.
