Haven't heard from our guitar playing friend in a long time. I remember him saying he would be busy with calving soon. That was several weeks ago.

I"m here Ron, but ran into a real nasty snag "bout a month ago.

I just got the bill from the Emergency Room today. $2300! If they aren"t careful, they"re gonna knock me down again at that rate....... :>(

Anyway, gettin" stronger each passing day.

Thanks for the hollar,

Allan

Hey, hang in there! A friend of mine, about our age, keeps "overdoing" while recovering from surgery- and keeps getting set back. Just lay around for awhile (and post on the board, to keep from getting bored), and it'll be better in the long run.

Sorry to hear that. Glad you're back. Do you have some relatives, neighbors and friends who take care of the cattle while you're mending?
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I know about those emergency room visits and the bills. Had one in the summer of 2009.

Glad to hear your going the other way now Allan
Hope not a real serious set back health wise .

seems Buickandadeere and wriggly needs to chime in

Sorry to hear you had trouble, Allan. Yeah, post on here daily so we'll know you are behaving.

Hi Allen,Glad you are back and feeling better.Lets talk more about those "RED" tractors!Best wishes for a speedy recovery.Steve

Wrigley is enjoying our nice spring weather as well as myself. Calves are starting to come pretty regular now and that will get really busy in hurry. We are starting a fence building project. Some lot fence that needs replaced before calving gets super busy. Chores get more complicated every day as we deal with new calves and cows that are near calving. Have a bull with a bad leg in the barn that is on the mend and that requires a few extra minutes everyday.
LOTS of manure to spread and the ground is finally solid enough to run on after another warm breezy day today but the fence project will have to come first. We are going to start setting corners and braces posts in the morning. Two day time meetings this week will have to be attended and a bull sale friday evening. The 4630 needs about another day of work and can be placed back into service at last. Ten days of nice weather and we will make a dent into our projects.
We have been trying to enjoy the last fleeting moments of free time as spring rapidly approaches.
There will be many long days between now and when the crops are harvested and the cows are back home next fall. With wrigley at my side I am planning to enjoy each and every one of them.

This reminds me of something that happened awhile back.
About a month ago a college age young lady from up the road came and spent the morning doing chores with us as research on a paper she was writing for a college compostion class. She asked many questions, recored our answers and took pictures. From making feed to checking cows she was right there with us the whole time. When we were done with chores she was cold and muddy and happy to be headed back home but she dropped off a copy of her paper and she did a very nice job. It was a good learning expirence for all of us.
