Here are pictures of Huntsville dam near me. It supplies drinking water to the Wyoming Valley area in PA.

Been out pumping cellars with the fire dept.

No, thank you. It was on the news a few days ago
that Illinois as a whole has the 10th wettest
February on record.

I know right here where I live that since about
November 10th or so we have been very wet. The
snow cover we had kept the wet ground from
freezing hard even though Dec-Jan-Feb were much
below normal temps.

Every snow we have got this winter has been tough
to move because if you broke through the crust you
were stuck. The crust was just hard enough to keep
you from "rocking" back and forth, you just went
down further. DOUG

I have mentioned before that we should be treating & filtering some of that water & putting it back underground.

This past week my wife and I visited our son out in Las Vegas. We walked over the new bridge at Hoover Dam (900 feet over the river!) and had a good view of the water level at the dam. Lake Mead is 124 feet below capacity, and it's clearly visible how low it is.

Coincidentally, I read the book "The Johnstown Flood" by David McCollough on the flight out. Amazing story. I suppose everyone in PA knows the story, but for those who don't, here's a nutshell version: In 1889, the city of Johnstown, PA was situated below a large earthworks dam, owned by wealthy people who used the reservoir as a summer retreat. The dam had been badly repaired, and there was no way to control the water level. During a heavy rainstorm, the dam failed and the resulting flood wiped out Johnstown, killing over 2000 people.
