ACRE/SURE.. how many of yo sign up?

any advice on the pro's/cons for some one with about 180-250 acres that's been in it for only a couple years?

Dave, ACRE and SURE are two completely different programs. SURE is a disaster program which you must be in an elegible county and have suffered a 10% loss in one crop to even apply. ACRE is a spin off of the commodity program where you either elect to enroll in ACRE or stay in the regular DP(direct payment) program. You give up 20% of your guaranteed payment as a gamble that ACRE will pay more. ACRE is complex and requires both a state 'trigger' and a national 'trigger' to qualify for any additional payment. We are in a pretty big ag county and last time I asked at the FSA office only 12 farms had enrolled in ACRE. I did not enroll.
