Wife boughta new stack washer/dryer(Maytag) The dryer cord is too short to reach the receptacle.
The manual says Do Not use an extention.
I gotta go get a longer cord, But, why do they say not to use an extension?

I have never seen a 240 volt extension cord, other than one I made myself for my welder. The parts to make up an extension cord will exceed the cost of a longer dryer cord.

Most likely because people will use a light gauge cord and they dont want to be involved in a lawsuit over a fire. IF you have the CORRECT GAUGE CORD....there would be nothing wrong with an extension....if not...well....possbly a fire....

Also the area behind a dryer collects lint. A plug in for an extension cord will collect lint across the terminals in the gap of the plug & recptacle. If the plug in is laying on the floor behind the dryer and your washer overflows you have another problem.

Accordong to the electrical code. Extension cords are for temporary use only.
Best solution would be a length of conduit or amoured tech cable and another dryer plug at the new dryer location.

Cord stetcher, that's the ticket!
Went back to the big box store retailer, not much concern on thier part about the problem. Bought a cord 1 foot longer(6' which is the max length
they sell), everything worked out. Thanks again.
