Gas prices in England

Interesting to see your gas & diesel prices.

Here they are rising almost daily

Gas = $7.58 US Gallon

White Diesel [road use] = $7.87 US Gallon

Red Diesel [farm use] = $3.76 US Gallon [no sales tax for farmers]

Figures based on converting 1 GB Pound = $1.50

My 2006 Mitusishi compact 4x4 SUV [2 litre gas engine] if driven carefully costs me $0.30 per mile for fuel

What benefits do you get out of those prices, here there is a road tax that was suppose to keep up all our roads and bridges? Which now there's a stimulus package to do all the repairs that were never done over the years.

I really dont care about other countries , just the usa thats there problem and we have our own problems at 3.35 a gallon. no sense in it at all, lower fuil prices and the economy will fix itself. Im done

That's a nice spread between off-road and highway
diesel. In southern MO, the dealers who sell off-
road (ie tractor diesel) give a discount of 20-25
cents per gallon compared to highway diesel prices,
even though the fuel taxes are around 50 cents. :-<

It doesn't make any difference what the price in some other country is. They also have the same as free medical care in England too.Maybe if we had free medical care our gas might be higher. Another thing is that they don't drive near as far anywhere in England as we do_Our country is nearly 20 times bigger by land area than theirs if not more.Everywhere we drive is further and we make less money than they do.
So its not right to compare what we spend and what they spend.Besides that we wouldn't want to live in their country,we came over here to get away from it.If they want to pay more for gas they can move to England.I'm sure we wont miss them.

Have gas prices been rising in the UK like they have here? It is my theory that a hefty gas tax would help to stabilize prices. I would rather have the govt. get the money than the oil companies as long as it is used properly. In the end the price is going to reflect what ever the traffic will bear.

Climbing here in Germany but not in the drastic jumps you folks are seeing.

Boy is that a stupid statement. The goverment makes more off a gallon then the oil company selling it. As the price goes up the tax goes up proportionately. It stays cheap in this country, leave it alone.

(quoted from post at 16:47:12 03/05/11) $40.today 11.2 gallons @ 3.55 a gallon
Stinks no reason for gasoline to cost that much

The rich oil guys have to keep lining thier pockets. I wish wages would go up just half of what gas does. What we need is someone in the White house to have the gahonas to say we can tap into the oil reserves that are right here in North America.

In the US the gas tax is a fixed amount per gallon. It has been essentially the same since the sixties. Sales tax is the only part of the tax that goes up with the price.
