Is there anything on the market to SPRAY the battery terminals/connectors and keep them from coroding? If so, what's it called and where is it located?
Thanks

Doug [550 Oliver or Cockshutt?] I use Never-Seize, a little messy but stays on good and seems to eliminates any corrosion. No spray but paint it on. Ron

I dont recall the brand name but any parts house, Auto Zone, Advance Auto, O Reilys, NAPA has that red anti corrosive spray out the ying yang. If a body cleans/shines/brushes the battery posts and terminals and uses the felt washers under the terminals and then applies a light coat of the red spray and keeps the battery tops clean they live almost NEVER corrode......

Just cover those terminals with grease. The same grease you have in your grease gun. Be sure to work the grease UNDER the terminal also.

Buy the RED and GREEN anti-corrosion washers you see hanging on the battery rack at your local auto parts store. Works as good/if not better than grease with a lot less mess.

Sure is and it works good too.Permatex battery protector. Should be available at any parts store worth the name.
The washers are a good thing too. For a buck I use both.

I don't think anything works. If the seal starts leaking around the post. That said be careful tightening the cables and try for a neutral pull push or twist in your cables. In a year or two when we can get Lithium-Ion or Iron Batteries this will just be a bad dream. Vic

Napa has a really good battery terminal cleaner. It sprays on yeallow and turns red if it reacts with anything so you get a good visual of progress. Brush it in and rinse it off.

I bought my terminal "paint" from Autozone and while they had a small can diplayed, they had a larger commercial quality style in stock for the same price. It has worked great. I orginally also bought the AZ cleaner but it is not nearly as good as the NAPA brand.

I have had no luck with the washers but know many people who have.

Hello 550Doug,
Any product mentioned will do the job.
If you are having a lot of builtup, you may have others things to look at. Loose battery post is one. Open cell batteries will, if overfilled, produce a LOT of the nasty stuff. If your system is overcharging, the same thing will happen.
Make sure the top of the battery is clean and dry, or it will self discharge, even if not in use.
Guido.

I just use some of that liquid electrical tape. Just brush it on clean terminals. Easy to put on and easy to take off.

It's in your pocket.......

Clean them good and lay a penny on top. Clean and/or replace it as needed. Cost you less than a nickle a year.

A few good products already listed here.
Petroleum jelly also works good and it's cheap.

Got to agree with you 4020guy that dadburn never-sieze I swear if you get it on you on the east coast I swear it will show up on the west coast! Like a bad case of the flu it just keeps hanging on!LOL

I"ve always used NOCO battery cleaner for cleaning batteries, then put the NOCO gooey washers (not the ones you see on the counter 2 to a package, these come in a quart size paint can) under the terminal, assembled, and sprayed with NOCO battery terminal protector. Its a red kind of gooey spray, and it doesn"t dry completely.

I carefully use it on the breech plug on a muzzleloader. If I am not careful to wipe my fingers right away I end up cleaning the whole outside of the gun & stock. It works good though.

Put a couple tea spoons of baking in a cup of water, pour over terminals, rinse off, apply a coat of "copercoat" (used on elect. connections) to terminals.

sam from wa, hit in right on the nose, being mechanic for yrs. thats all i used, batt last for years, never has to clean off posts.

I have used Excide CRO/GAURD, its a red spray. And like Dave2 said lay some pennys on top of the battery.

I also coat them with grease. Never had a problem with it. Well, except for greasy fingers when changing a battery, I guess.
