Does anyone have any knowledge of Greenline Equipment in Texarkana, Texas? Are they good, bad or indifferent? My haying partner is considering buying a John Deere 5410 from them. This is an out of state purchase to Washington. He hasn't gone down there to see it yet, he just has the salesman's word about it and some photographs.

David..Three or four years ago Mother Deer started putting preasure on small dealers to sell or buy. Deer wanted to deal with less dealers. Long and short of it several dealers that were not ready to sell went under an umbrella deal thus Green line eq formed. They are 350 mi and more west of our dealerships but have never heard anything bad about them.. That being said I am a big advacate of buying where you can get service.. Say he saves $ 800.00 is it worth that when he needs service..

Even if the repair parts & service wasn't an issue one would think the freight from Texas to Washington would negate any savings in purchase price of a large piece of farm equipment.

I here ya. He has it all penciled out and I think the freight will be around $1700.00, but, he never listens to me anyway. Tractor prices seem to be a little bit lower in the midwest and south. Thanks for the replies.

This one is $19,000.00 and the ones he is looking at in the northwest are 6 or 7 thousand more. The Texarkana one is "rough" according to the dealer, but they claim to have rebuilt the engine.
