Spring IS here!

About 4 weeks ago we planted some radishes and onions. Then we got the freeze and ice, but luckily it didn't hurt anything as it only lasted a few hours. That was 2 weeks ago, and it's been spring like since then. The grass is green and the trees are coming out full of leaves. Today it was a wonderful 80 degrees, so I went out and worked on the little vegie garden. Usually I just till it and plant but this year I put the tractor back there with a root plow and then a single plow. The area is really too small for the tractor (Ford 3000), but I wanted to save my back this spring.

This area is only 16 feet wide and 60 feet long so it was a PITA backing the tractor in there each pass, but hey it worked!
Then I rigged up a piece of PVC pipe and began putting some Rio Grande River water down the rows. In a few days when it dries some I'll get it planted (with whatever the wife says to plant).

And just before dark we pulled some more radishes. I had to get a picture of the bag full from tonight, looks like I'll be giving a bunch away as there is no way the two of us can eat all these!

To you folks up north, hang in there......the warmth is heading your way.....it really is!

Looks like you are half way into summer!! We worked cattle all day today and it was a pleasant 35 degrees and bright sunshine in IL. Mud is about knee deep in places with more rain on the way this week. Sure enough, spring is on the way.

Wow 80 degrees, its 16 here in NY right now, 15 to 20 inches of snow, cant plant anything yet! Thanks for the pics. It will come soon for us.

well here in NW Wisconsin we have had that white stuff on the the ground since November 12th ,I think spring is about 2 months away ,been a long winter, those radishes look good ,cant wait mine should be ready to eat about mid july!ha ha

That's nice, and DOES make me a little more anxious for Spring, but 80º in February? No, thanks.

80º is already too darn hot for me, I can't even imagine what you must deal with in July and August.

I'll stay up here in the Frozen Tundra and look at your nice pictures, thanks...

NO spring here this morning woke up to -20c -26 with windchill. Maybe spring tomorrow with +5c and some rain. In the good old north in Ottawa Ontario Canada

Hang in there, guys! I've heard that Spring moves north at the rate of about thirty five miles per day.

I did hitch up the garden tractor and filled the lawn roller to kinda flatten it some. I believe it needed a little more moisture in it and I'll try it again here two counties above the Ohio River. Hope the lawn roller don't freeze and bust in the meantime. ohfred

It took 3 weeks for spring to move 250 miles north.I judged that by the time it took peeper frogs to sing here versus the north border of R hode Island. We are usually free of snow out in the open by April 1.Woods take longer.Thermometer says zero here.3 feet of snow here.
