Was the MM G-VI the first center line drive MFWD tractor? Were all the MM MFWD tractors center line drive? Tractor Data says that production of the G-VI started in 1959 and that the Oliver 1900 MFWD didn't come out until 1962. Always thought the Oliver MFWD came out first.

If that's what the data says,I guess it must be true. I'd always thought it was the 1800A series that had the first ones, but that wouldn't be intil at least 60 or 61.

My neighbor had a 560 Diesel with MFWD, it was a 58 I think. It was put on in Elwood Il. Where the Molines were converted also. He also had one on a Super M. He put it on. But the 560 came that way new.

Heer: The first patented four-wheel-drive technology debuted on a 1915 tractor designed by Chris Heer. This particular model was equipped with a Heer-built, horizontally-opposed, two-cylinder engine that churned out 25 hp. Boasting a turning radius of just 8 feet (which was unheard of for tractors of that day) the 9,000-pound machine featured a three-speed transmission, another rarity for its time.

My first MFWD was a 1962 M-M 706 diesel . My second M-M 706 D. MFWD was a 1964 model . The biggest difference was the shifting set up. Early one used a heavy cable, hard to shift in or out of gear. Second one had a rod & lever , it worked very good . clint
