Trip to North Carolina

Hey everyone. Just thought I would post a message about my upcoming trip to North Carolina. I am going to visit a friend who is currently stationed at Fort Bragg, and am wondering if anyone has any points of interest maybe tractor or motorcycle related not too far from the Fort Bragg area... Maybe someone wants to show me their collection? Ha ha. I will be departing Minneapolis on the 11th and returning the 16th. I look forward to seeing the area, and I think my buddy plans on driving me down to Myrtle Beach to check that area out, so any stops along the way might be interesting. Thanks, guys (and ladies)!

Make sure to check out the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. Plenty of golf & peach orchards nearby.

I live closer to the middle of the state in Concord but have worked down in the Fayettville area a good bit over the years. The only thing tractor related I know of in the general area is a 75 cubic yard dragline bucket that is set up as a roadside attraction in Aurora. It's a bit north and east of where your going but if your interested in that kind of thing it's there. Beyond that just hit the backroads and ride around, you never know what you might see. Have fun and have a safe trip.

There are two Airborne museums- one is in Fayetteville, the other is at Ft. Bragg at the JFK Special Warfare Center. Say hi to my daughter, she"s in PsyOps at the center.

If you are interested in seeing a very nice collection of tractors, there is one in the Ft. Lee are which is about 3 hours north of Ft. Bragg. The place is called Keystone Tractor Works. The owner of the collection has part of his collection on display (about 150 tractors). I just spent about 4 months at Ft. Lee and would head to Keystone any free time I had. Below is the link to his web site. http://www.keystonetractorworks.com/

I spent my Army hitch at Ft Bragg with the 82nd
I was married and lived at Spring Lake just off the post in 1953 & 1955. Hal

The USS North Carolina battleship is in Wilmington NC. The tour is awesome. It is about 100 miles from Ft Bragg.

I have not lost anythang at Myrtle Beach are any beach far as that goes...
If he knows the back roads to MB its nice in the spring...

FB area,, it will hardly grow a decent pine tree  ,,, the eastern part of the state is very poor bring plenty of money

Thanks for all of the replies! It definitely sounds like it may be an interesting trip. Now I might just have to talk my buddy into driving me to one of these fine "attractions".. He is not as into tractors as I am.

In case anyone was wondering, his MOS is 18C, which is Special Operations Engineer, or in other words... A Green Beret.

Myrtle Beach is ok for partying, but I'd suggest visiting Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach instead. A interesting tour is to drive down to Fort Fisher, visit the battleground and aquarium, then take the ferry across the Cape Fear River to Southfield. Brunswick Town is a archaeological site near Southfield that's worth visiting.
