Ford 555 Won't Move

Our Ford 555 (1984-1986) won't move.

I've heard that the tin plate between the torque converter and the fly wheel sometimes gets broken. Is it a difficult operation the change the plate?

Most any repair of broken drivetrain parts requires a tractor split. Is your 555 a backhoe/loader? That makes a split even tougher, of course. I'd make sure of what was wrong before "going in"- You should be able to look up in there by taking off the starter, lower inspection plate, or something. Mirrors and flashlights can help. Good place to start would be a repair manual and parts book.

had a 555 backhoe that got sluggish on the torque and was told by dealer that the torque had vanes that would move as torque was applied, changed torque converter and all was well...

Pull fuel tank. then see whats going on in there. Got to pull tank to unbolt converter from flywheel anyway. The newer units had acess thru removal of starter. The plate with 4 bolts acesses shifter valve and assaosited parts
