Russia will be, if not already, the only country sending oil to China,..and not in US dollars. Even though the US dollar is the World Reserve Currency, which means that they are suppose to be using US dollars. (because of this rule, this is why our gov't continues to print value-less money!)

Story I heard was we ship the stuff the EPA says is to dirty to burn here. No idea how true it is. But it would just be another example of one of our friendly goverment agencys helping us out if it is.

I do believe some or most of oil from the Alaska pipeline does go across the Pacific. Cheaper shipping to replace it with crude from Mexico and Venezuela. This might change if Venezuela's Chavez decides to throw his weight around some more and curtail US shipments.

There are no tankers flying a US Flag, once a forien tanker leves a US port it cannot dock at any other US port.

Jimmy, that is simply not true. Most tankers and other cargo ships carry foreign registries to avoid taxes. Liberian registry is very popular.

I don't know if any tankers currently carry the US flag, but you will recall that during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, many tankers were re-flagged as US vessels so they could get US Navy escorts through the Persian Gulf and Straits of Hormuz.

In the 70s they would stop at a more expensive port and take on that price saying that was the port origin.

You got it right. What's going on now with prices
going up doesn't touch China because they get their
oil from Russia. The only oil price going up now is
what's sold under US Currency.

There are plenty of tankers that are US flagged, some are strictly coasters and others service the US Navy at various places around the world and some others are ownwed by US oil companies.

Probably should check oil imported into the US from Canada?
Depending on the time of year and being east, central or west. Crude and refined oil products travel both ways across the border.
I would check those numbers from another source. Oil sands production in Canada is mostly exported. Production from the Irving refineries in St John goes mostly to east coast US markets.

B&D, I never meant to imply that the US is a net exporter of oil to Canada. Same site shows imports from the Frozen North: In December 2010, the US imported 64 million barrels from Canada while exporting a measly 1.2 million.

This question shows one of the problems with trying to figure out things like where do we get our oil from? We use more than we produce, but we do export oil. As someone said, most of our Alaskan oil goes across the Pacific, as it's cheaper to get oil to the gulf and east coast from other places. It's a global market, very hard to tell where the fuel in your tank actually originated from...

True. That is why US policy is to keep oil sales in US dollars. Otherwise the US would go bust. I can't see how this scam can go on much longer.
Get ready to fight more wars over oil sales.Iran has been selling oil to Europe for Euro's and Uncle Sam isn't happy.
It all went off the rails in the 1970's when the gold standard was lifted. To finance a rice paddy war, welfare and the space program.

Those numbers (3.65 billion barrels of oil) sound impressive until you translate that in "days of oil" here in the US. We currently use about 21 million barrels a day, so that 3.65 billion represents about 174 days worth of oil. Which is not to say that it's insignificant, and that we shouldn't go for it, but it's not enough to really change the game...

yes its true, export it ,refine it, and buy it right back!LOL..same way with lumber, wool, cotton, tons of stuff. What would really surprise you is the amount of ethanol that we are exporting now. We live in a global market these days, everything goes to the highest bidder.Just look at libya, this country gets something like 2% of its oil from there. But it is sitting on the biggest reserves on the african continent, and they supply lots of africa's, italy's ,and china's oil.So what happens when their suppy from libya is cut off? They simply bid on whats available, driving price of our oil up. Nothing mysterious about it,it simply sells to the highest bidder no matter its origin..same as wheat ,corn ,soybeans ,any other commodity.

http://www.indexmundi.com/united_states/oil_exports.html

The USA exports 1.74 million barrels of oil a day.
Last I checked we were number 4 in the world for the supply of oil that we have.Thats probably a lie.

Of course they want you to think we dont have any and we are running on fumes.I think they have found even more since 2008 when they pulled that last stunt and ran the price of gas up. They have been doing this since the 1970s and there was never a shortage yet. They say they run the price up if they "THINK" there might be a shortage.Which in other words means they illegally manipulate the stock market and lie about shortages. Of course you aren't supposed to know that.
