OT/Chev. dash guages failures.

Any one have an 04 or 05 Impala with the Gas,Temperature, and Tachometer guages failing to function? If so what was the answer to fix them short of taking it to the GM Dealer?

Hi, I have the same problem with a 2003 Chev 3/4 ton. The problem is the stepper motors that run the guages. They have to be replaced. There are many outfits that do it. You mail in your guages and they send them right back. Mine cost $225 for all guages and backlights. It's cheaper in the US though, I think it's around $100. Check on Youtube or just google "chev guage malfunction".

Bye for now,

That is a common problem on 03 to 06 gm cars and trunks I have a 05 silverodo and the speedometer has messed up three times it will all of a sudden start to read 120 mph I have been able to reset it by shuting off and restarting the truck. It will move back about 10 mph every time intill it gets back to zero the only way to fix your gauges is to have your insturment panel rebuilt or replaced with a rebuild one. you can buy a rebuilt one on e-bay for around 200.00 dollars which will be cheeper than a dealer could do it for not hard to replace your shelf.

Funny you should ask, I am in Florida, 1200 miles from home in a 05 Impala and last thurday the temp gauge just went all the way past hot. to about 5:00. We at the time were in a very large traffic jam leaving the Space Schuttle launch. Wife was driving and I told her to just keep driving if the darn car engine freezes up so what.
Long story short, went to a chevy dealer , new instrument panel cost $350. and had to ordered from California. Part came in today and was installed about 4 o clock.
Total cost $ 539.00 , but what do you do 1200 miles from home.

Also Florida Flywheelers show was great.

Take a look at the Southern ELectronics website- they just repaired the dash on my 05 HD. GM has a known problem with their instrument cluster steppers...
