1941 9N Won't Start

Was getting ready for string the other day and tried to start the 9N....no luck-battery wouldn"t turn over. Tried to "Jump start" it but, after a lot of sparkes, I got nothing. Now the starter will not turn over- pushing the starter switch is only greeted by the noise of the solenoid slaming home....any ideas on where to start? Battery is good but it appears I have nothing past the solenoid (the lights won"t even come on. I think it may be the wiring harness

Something is wrong here, you say a 9N and a solenoid. Well first off the 9N or 2N never had a solenoid, all mechanical switch and no electrical switch that a solenoid is. Now if you have an 8N then you do have a solenoid but that would be after any hookup for lights.

Just another suggestion. Un-do the battery terminals,Pull the starter off and get a small pry bar(Large screwdriver if nothing else) and see if you can move the flywheel,if it's free. then check the starter .I would be reluctant to jump across the starter terminals fear of forcing the starter to turn a frozen flywheel Good By teeth .Check brushes in the starter housing. Wish you success. regards, LOU.
