There is a 830 Case sitting outside about 5 miles from me. It has set out for 15 yrs or so. the tires are up, but low. The engine is free. The gas tank has rotted thru. The cushion is gone from the seat. The range shifter is frozen, the main trans is ok. the power steering is empty. The oils seem ok. Is it just worth scrap price $280 per ton? 5 ton?= $1400 Is anybody interested in it for $2000? So. Il. 618 838 2225 I would help load. Vic

Neighbor had a case-o-matic on his farm auction last summer that had never sat outside in the past 30 years. Good tires, ran decent, case-o-matic was getting weak. Sold for $3,000

Seriously doubt it. A freind of mine recently purchased a good runing desiel model for $2800. From a dealer no less and that included delivery.

Plus an 830 is only in the 6-8000lb range putting the scrap price around $1000 (900-1100) at $280 a ton.

You might get $12-1400 as a parts machine if the right guy is looking for one. $16-1800 if you can get it started and show it runs.

1st off it depends on what model 830. Is it an early 1960 or a late 1969 comfort king? If the earlier/pre comfort kings The only way to maybe get $2000 is to part it out and you'll still scrap the trans/rear end. As others have said you can get good/fair runners in the 2000-2500 range or less.

The key items of value, grill screens, heads, block and piston/sleeves (especially 830 gasers), manifolds if good, PS pump, PTO (older) hydraulic pump (all vintages), fenders if very good, wide fronts of course, eagle claws (older), torque tube with all parts for someone wanting to convert a Case-o-matic and the dual shifter set up. Older gage clusters if in fair condition are worth 100 to 150ish more if excellent and work. otherwise that's about it and you'll have to work at moving the parts. Some stuff will fly and others you may scrap after a while. I've parted out most of 2 of these Case tractors so I'm familiar with them. Good luck.

You have to remember that scrappers and parts sellers are in it to make money which can't be done if they pay the same price they can sell or scrap it for. Figure the value at half of retail prices bandied about here to a scrapper or seller which is probably the most they would give.

And you can't just load a tractor up and haul it across the scale at a scrap yard. They don't take tires and fluids. There is lots of time, money, gas, and work in getting something to a salvage yard. Then they may only give a mixed steel price for it.

Thanks for the input guys. It is a comfort king with a wide front. Our local scraper will take it all, you just have to get it to the scales. Thanks again Vic

So tell me where you are going to get $280/ton for unprepared cast? Lets check your math. An 830ck weighs 7000# or less so thats 3.5T and at your $280/ton thats $980 total so if you don't get $2000 you are going to drain the fluids, remove the tires and take less than $1000 for it at the scrapper? Pretty brilliant! Why don't you give someone a deal that can use it for parts instead of being spiteful if you don't get your wh 0rehouse price? Thats how the dutch around here act.

I said they wanted 2000 for it. Are you offering something? I also think it weighs more than 7000, It has 2 pair of wheel weights, and 4 on the front. There is a Case guy coming to look at it. He knows they want 2000 for it. Vic
