Only one of the drivers. Can't get it to break loose. Any suggestions appreciated.Has to roll in the A.M..TIA,bob

Back the brake off then try to loosen where the linkage pivots on the shaft. Had one do that on a trailer last year after sitting for several months, lots of lube and prying to get it loose.

start by whacking it with a big ole hammer, rock it back and forth from forward to reverse Is it froze up--get it some place warm my .01 worth

If you live in cold part of the country you may have got moister in brake drum and froze the brake lining to the drums.

Has it gone over center? If it has when you put air to it, it will get tighter. And you should fix it before you go anywhere, the others won't be far behind it. Just a thought Vic

1st check to see if there is play in the slack adjuster. If there is you probably have the lining frozen to the drum. Smack it with a big hammer till it rings. If there is no play, you may have cammed over on the "S" cam. You will have to back the adjustment off to release the brake. It is time at that point to replace the brake, It is not usable at that point. The lining will probably be about 1/4" thick if the drums are in good shape.
One other thought, Is there an air leak at that brake can? Do not disassemble the brake can, replace the whole thing. There is a big spring inside that will hurt or kill you if not done properly, so just back the adjustment off and remove the whole can With the push rod.

Could be a blown Maxi-brake..

If it is, the brake will set and the only way to release it is to wrench the bolt down on the spring chamber to re-compress the spring to release the brake..

Let us know what you find out..

Ron.

Need to know if it's cold out, freezing, could of been set before it cooled off, is it leaking air, could back it off and then bolck the air line, how long has it been sitting, could of rusted to the drum? And there are even more scenarios.
