trucking and rates

We own a trucking co for 26 years now. Pull reefer freight haul freight out of wi to sw mo.when fuel prices go up the rates go higher due to shortage of trucks. So I donot care if fuel goes up getting close to 3.00 pm already and this is feb which ussally is slow . can not wait till spring crap should really hit the fan

And you think your making money at 3 bucks a mile now god help us. Back in the late 70's like 77-80 we were hauling for 2,50 a mile and sometimes on special loads 3.50 . Back then you could buy the best truck out there for under 60000 and a new trailer best made for under 25000 and insurance on the outfit was 1800 bucks a year. And first line drive tires were 200 bucks . now lets fast forward to today a new tractor will set ya back about a buck and a quarter a new East dump trailer will rock your clock at around 65 grand insurance will take about 7 or 8 grand out of your pocket and then there is the fuel oil and TIRES . That is why i am seeing nice large cars selling for less then a beat up old pick up. Oh and we won't go into the DOT now that we have the DEREGULATION that everybody wanted . Yep life is real good for the man with a truck . Trust me it was 10000 percent better back then then now.

just another reason i sold mine this weekend, let somebody else have the headachs, the last 10 years, or so, by the time i pay for everything and everybody i have to to be in the trucking business, there was not much left for me, and im the one doing all the work,i might make more net profit working at mickey mac flippin burgers
as my grandpa told me, it aint what you make that counts, its how much of what you make that you can stick in your pockets that matters
