Got tired of people telling me "nah its not for sale I'm gonna fix it up someday" sooo I went to the scrapyard where everything is for sale.

It doesn't lay in the scrapyard around here long enough to be for sale. They cut and crush constantly as quick as it comes in,then load it up and ship it to their other yard.

Scrap yards are just that. They deal in scrap. What you need is a salvage, junk yard. These are getting harder to find as the price of scrap goes up so not many left.

Same here. Scrap yard crushes everything immediately, big stuff they employ guys to cut it up, just as soon as it's dropped off. Then, it's off to china.

Our local scrap yard will save things for you if you tell them what you want, and you come and take it when they call. Their pet peeve is people that after they have saved a piece, and loaded it for them, go and weigh and they come back and don't want it because it is higher than they thought, I always pay more than they want, Vic

Yep. Exactly what out local scrapyard does.

I have been able to buy a piece or two under the hood of the scrap cars. They won't sell me any tires or the like, meaning tire and rims to fit my mail route car.

The first thing they do with anything they unload or is brought in is bash it with the grapple crawler. 4 Cummins powered Allison tranny buses were just drove in from our local school, within the hour all four were basically knocked over with parts scattered everywhere. What a waste. DOUG

Same thing happened prior to WWII. We sold Japan all our scrap, then they turned it into bombs and killed our soldiers, sailors and marines.

Now it goes to China. But they love us right?

It's a different day and age. History has proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that world dominance through military force is doomed to fail EVERY time.

Now it's all about economic dominance. We're China's little cash cow. We bring them their raw materials, haul away their finished goods, then BUY them at a healthy profit.

We already give them everything and deliver it to their doorstep. Why would they want to come over here and do all the hard work themselves?

If you think the lead paint, cyanide, and melamine is anything but gross incompetence, you're nuts. It's like a clueless barkeep cutting the liquor with kerosene.

My local large scrap yard refuses to sell anything and gets mad if you even ask.......BUT one of the yard employees has a field with hundreds of old tractors and farm equipment. Seems the inside man gets to pick em. Paul
