IH 666 3pt Raises When Aux. Is Actuated

Tractor has been sitting for a couple years and I just tried
the 3 point today. Lever won't do anything even with the
draft lever in all positions.

When I moved the aux lever to lift the the loader, up came
the 3 point to the top and stayed there. Won't come down
accept for a couple inches. Aux. lever raises it again. Loader
works fine as usual.

Service manual says the "unloading valve" is to blame. Not
seated or stuck or something. Probably a little bit of rust
holding it up.

Sounds like a heckuva project to get the valve body out from
under the seat...anything else I can do or should I just dive
in some fine day?

Did you try putting some weight on the arms when you put the 3 pt position lever in the down position?

Mine will stay up sometimes till weight is applied to the arms then will be fine. I've had to get on the 3 pt and jump up and down. The system seems to get sticky with lack on use.

Put a blade or something on the 3pt and run it through the paces.

I put 500 lbs. of front end weights on it for traction and when I went to lift it, it wouldn't even try til I moved the aux. lever.

sounds like unloading valve orfice plugged not letting oil pass through it. Just fixed 504 and a 86 hydro with same problem.

I sneak it out with 90 degree snap ring pliers and a magnet just in case you drop something. It is a little time consumeing but I don't pull the whole valve out.sorry late getting back to you don't have pc at home
