F-350 Brake getting Hot!!

I have a 2006 F-350 dually. I noticed the other day while washing after i drove home that when the water hit the left front wheel it looked and sounded as if i was frying eggs!! It was hot hot hot. ran over to the other side and put water on it and nothing. i thought at first a brake calipar locked up but when I took the wheel off the hub would turn pretty easy with little drag. After I took it apart it has not gottin that hot again but if does get warmer then the other side. truck doesnt pull to the side when going down the road. Im kinda stumped... these are the original brakes with about 54,000 miles on them. Brake pads got some meat left on them. rotor looks good too. Any ideas???

Yep. Does the truck pull to the left when braking? May not be so much as the left caliper locking up, BUT the right front NOT braking enough or not at all. Basically the left one do'in all the work! Could be caliper or proportioning valve.

Could be that the anti rattle brake pad tin pieces have a groove worn in them and won't let the brake pad back away from the disc. This happened on my F150.
If you let it cool, it would spin freely.

Just one possibility.....

RUST, RUST, RUST, mine did the same thing last fall, took the brake pads off and cleaned everything off and no more problems. Mine sits a lot, probably is not used enough, but I don't like to use it on short trips unless I have the trailer.

Never thought of this... Stupid question: How can and where may this happen? Is it in the metal lines or the rubber ones?

I did notice the inside pad was up close to the rotor and the thing was pretty stuck in there I got it out and cleaned around the groove that it moves in. even put some grease on it. It just seems odd to me the inner pad dont seem to move and the ooutside one moves. the pad on the outside has more wear then the inside too. Seems like its doing all the work

No it doesnt pull to the side but I was thinking about the other side not working causeing the other one to do all the work. Im going to check the other side today to see what it looks like and to see if pad wear is about the same. thanks!

Rust. Happened to my 06 too. Mine sits a lot during the winter also. Now if they get salt water on them I spray them off before putting away.

Rubber line that goes to the caliper. I think Ken MacFarlane has it right. Seized caliper pins are a common problem with the Super Duty's. We replace the pins/ boot twice a year on our plow trucks.
