Is it too early to frost seed clover? I expect our snow to be gone in a couple of days, temps in the 50s and then turning cold again--temps in the 20s-30s.

My Dad was a firm believer, and actually so am I, of seeding in the Dark of the Moon in February. No matter what the ground condition, frozen or muddy. He always walked it on with a Horn Seeder. I don't ever remember him having a failure. I know a lot of people will laugh at this also, but when setting fence post in the dark of the moon, they will also stay in the ground better if you can arrange to do it then, not always possible. I have proven this many times over the years.

I too have been thinking about getting my clover seed and throwing it out. The way the year seems to be going it might be a good idea to get it out sooner then later. Most years I do it in March but thinking about doing it in the next few days if I ever get to town to get the seed that is

I'd still hold off around here. Wait till all the snow's gone and it's just freezing over at night, then get out there early in the morning before it gets greasy.

Not sure where you are at. Here in SW Mo I do it from Feb to March. Three days ago I seeded four and 1/2 acres with a cyclone seeder in about six inches of wet snow. It is Durana white clover, a first for me I usually use red clover.

Are you in MO or somewhere in Canada. How about you guys asking crop questions give us a location?

I'm looking out the window and I could shoot a deer with my rifle and it's 10:30 pm. Humongous full moon
