My New John Deere 60 and McCormick Deering 15-30 (Pict's)

This last Sunday I went on a little trip to retrieve two tractors. A 1923 McCormick Deering 15-30 and a 1956 John Deere 60. I payed $600 for the McCormick Deering 15-30 and $1000 for the John Deere 60. It was a fun trip and it was the longest trip for tractors that I have taken, to Stanton Nebraska. We left at about 10 and arrived at 12:30. It was a great weekend to do this as the weather was so nice outside. But we ran into the problem of mud. It took us a few hours to get the tractors loaded but we were able to do it. We first put on the McCormick Deering 15-30 and then the John Deere 60 and chained them down good. It was a very fun adventure that ended with us safely arriving home at about 6. Today we unloaded the tractors. They sure were easier to get off then to get on, but thats all part of the fun of getting new toys.
I cannot wait to get both the tractors running. I think is will be easier to get the John Deere 60 going then the McCormick Deering 15-30, but I am up for the challenge.
Now I have 8 tractors and these two are now my oldest and newest tractors in my collection.

My tractor collection now.
1923 McCormick Deering 15-30
1937 John Deere A Unstyled
1942 John Deere B
1945 John Deere B

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies!

You left the potato digger and other stuff!Shame on you!hope Someone saves that stuff from the scrapper. Why does everyone just want the tractor only? That was/is the purpose of a tractor!...to pull something! a farmimplement..not a pulling sled.It makes me sad when people haul the(mounted)equipment to the scrapper and turn the tractor into a trailer/show queen or'pullin' tractor...Well,Igot that off my chest,Sorry the for the rant.

I talked to the owner about the potato digger and he said that someone else was interested in it so he was saving it for the other guy. I have the same feelings as you do about the implements. The tractor was made for the implements and not the other way around. I will be going back up there to get 5 front mount cultivators and a thresher once it dries out a bit. He was about to cut that thresher up when I asked him about it. So there's another one saved.

Both engines are loose. The guy I purchased them from was using the John Deere 60 up until five years ago and he purchased the McCormick Deering loose but never had it running.

Your truly to be admired. Keeping the older tractors alive and well is something to be proud of
and Yes I've got a lot of help on here also. Great bunch of fellows. Like to see pictures of progress as well as informative post on the re work. Regards LOU.

Looks like you did good on your tractors.

Hope it doesn't take much to get them both running.

Thanks for sharing your story and photos with us.

Hey Beatle - great looking tractors! That old 60 looks neat as a pin! Are you going to try and find side curtains for the old McCormick??

Hey Delta - I agree with you - I like the implements, too... Tractors are neat, but they are only part of the story of this old equipment...

I was over to Grand Junction just a couple of weeks ago - thought of ya"ll as we went through Delta! If I had had more time and/or more heads-up notice beforehand, I"d have sent you an email to see if you had time for a Coke and talk old tractors a little bit!

Maybe next time... I live about an hour or so south of Lamar CO on the other side of the range from you...

Looks like you'll have enough to do to keep you out of trouble in the near future. Glad you got 'em, and good luck with the mechanical work. Good thing you got them rather than the torch.

Talking about loading them, I made a portable winch, out of a old 8000 lb Warn, has a 2 in square tube sticking out, and its own battery. Welded a 2 in id receiver. on the front of the trailer, makes loading a dead one easy.
