Looking at cameras.

I have given up finding my camera... I would like to find something compact that I can carry in my pocket that has decent quality and won't break the bank. What have you all used?

I like the older Canon PowerShot models. They can be had on Amazon for around $30 in many cases. I have two so far and both have been very good. Shopgoodwill.com is an online auction where they have even better prices, sometimes.

I have a Nikon Coolpix. It can be bought new for 79.00 on sale. It uses 2 AA batteries takes a SD card, and is very simple to use. It is about the size of a pack of smokes so it will fit in your shirt pocket.

I have a new cannon power shot 12.1 megapixel. I love it. Had a Nikon before. This one boots up faster and takes great video with sound. $109 on sale at wally.

I have a 35mm Pentax K-2000 with all kinds of lenses to do anything in the word, and 2x, 3x, 4x converters that I can stack on top of each other, and then put a 200-1000 zoom lense on it and watch bugs crawl around in craters on the Moon and even Mars. Great camera. Don't think I can find 35mm film anymore, and no one to develop it if I could. And on top of that, I saw a Pentax K-2000 just like mine setting in a camera museum and it wasn't the newest camera either. It was a great camera though. Once took a picture off of the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago and could see the people sitting in their seats at Wrigley Field. Start stacking those converters and zoom lenses and stuff, point it at something and burn a hole through it like a laser beam.

Kodak C743. About 75 on ebay. Advantage is thatit has both a screen and a eyepiece viewfinder. So when you are out with a bright sun behind you , you can use the eyepiece.

Panasonic Lumix TZ range of compact digitals. Current model is TZ-10 but the earlier TZ-6 & TZ-7 are better models. Voted best compact camera in all photo magazines for past 3 years

both canon and nikon make some great small cameras that can do it all. I'd stick with a known brand, look for optical zoom rather than digital, and also 10-11 megapixels is plenty.
