Green Gas???

I have a MM UB that I bought running and then the motor locked up after setting around for a year before I got the carb and gas tank cleaned. The engine had a knock in it as soon as I had got it running again. After the motor locked up I just parked it about a year ago and haven't worked on it yet. Today I rode by it on my Honda and saw what looked like antifreeze in the sediment bowl. Well, that can't be good...

Maybe you have already guessed. My guess is that some one put antifreeze in the gas tank thinking it was the radiator. There was enough gas in the tank to run it but evaporated over time giving you nearly all antifreeze? ggp

senoj or jones inverted has a good point but in our state our diesel fuel is green and red one is taxed and one is not for farm use I don"t know which and I"m not sure of gasoline if the same applies. Just a thought neither one should make it lock up though.

I cleaned out the gas tank back when I got it running and nobody around to put AF in it. I wonder if a leaking head gasket or worse would have back fed threw the intake and carb all the way back to the fuel bowl? I may need to work on this tractor just to find out....

Not sure how antifreeze could back feed from the carb very easily. Let"s see it would have trickled out and down the intake pipe filled the bowl and raised the float shutting off the fuel needle valve. But of course anything can happen I"ve seen a lot of dumb things over the years. Good luck let us know how it turns out.
