allis big 10 ignition coil

I'm thinking this is a Briggs with the coil ("armature") enclosed in the sheet metal air shroud around the flywheel.

If so, you will need to pull the engine to remove the shroud to access the armature.

The alternative would be to abandon the magneto system and convert it to battery ignition using an automotive-type "round-can" coil, one for a Kohler single-cylinder engine would be ideal.

Can NOT be Done. You have to pull the engine. What Model Briggs engine? Is it a Model 23 or is it a Six digit Model Number beginning with 23 like 233431.
