I have been experiencing a problem with my MF 4WD tractor. It is a 1989 tractor which cannot pull three discs. It runs well but once the plough get into the earth the machine becomes immobile. At first I was told that it had to do with the pistons not burning well. I bought new pistons but it didn't pull. Then I was told that possibly the air cleaner needed replacement, I replaced the old air cleaner with a new one but all was in vain. Then I was told that it was possibly something to do with the fuel injector pump. I sent the pump to the experts who worked on it and brought back saying it would work but when I went to plough in the low lands (somehow paddy)the problem reoccurred. Is the lifeline of this tractor gone or there is something I can do? Please help.

What was your wet and dry compression, before the new pistons? After?
Was it burning oil or smoking before or after the pistons?
Did you measure and inspect the sleeves?
Did you rework the head?
How many hours? How long owned? Problem just started or did the tractor ever pull right?
Did you have the injectors checked?

You took the engine apart to install new pistons or do you mean injectors? What is the tractor doing? Does the engine stall or power out? Is it spinning in the mud? Could the clutch be shot and slipping under load? Your post is lacking important information. Dave

Change the fuel filter and blow the line back to the tank with compressed air, then make sure you have fuel flow into the filter... then bleed the system.

Many thanks Rod. This is useful advise- I will do as you have directed and feedback. So far my mechanic has just returned from cleaning the nozzles as they were suspect.
