Close one today.

Moved one of the old grain augers to bin today and the eletric moter wouldn't turn. So i decide to use another one and while pushing it away by hand the axel breakes. The whole thing comes crashing down smashing the sizzer lift. I had been pushing the hopper with my chest and just pushed me out of the way in time.

I am glad you were in a position of relative safety. You could have been pushing sideways on it near a support and been injured/killed! The most dangerous failure (other than in the thinking department) is the one that happens with equipment that has been reliable for years doing simple tasks, then snaps in two.

Whoa!!!! Ladder fell over with stupid me on it.I was two rungs up but fell downhill-soft ground, rolled with it,was O.K.. At 63yr. its too easy to get hurt or sprained.

Similar thing happened a week ago. Was working inside a barn on a stepladder with a nail gun. Forgot I was a couple steps up and stepped off backward like I was on the lowest step. Back of my head hit the 2x10 wall of the barn pretty hard and I landed on my tailbone on a bunch of 2x4's. Was pretty dazed for a few minutes. Probably the hardest fall I've ever taken.

About an hour later went home and wife was pulling out of the garage, closing the garage door as she pulled out. I motioned for her to stop and leave it up so I could unload my tools. I had toolboxes in both hands kind of trotting to the garage and BAM. Smacked the FRONT of my head and knocked me on my rear. Garage door was NOT all the way up, about forehead height. She must have hit the button to stop it, but not reverse it.

So there I was, on the icy driveway at night, flat on my back. All I could do was laugh as I picked up the toolboxes and limped into the house. Too much for a 60 yr old. Rear-end was pretty sore for a few days and the guys at work wanted to know why I had a long red mark across my forehead, but otherwise lucky.
