Well jacked up the driver side and found that it was the one that didn't lock in. The reason was that I had put the spring on the wrong side to the what I would call the slider gear. Good thing I did jack it up because the wheel bearing nut had worked lose and needed a lock ring fixed. Got it almost back together but ran out of light to finish. I need to put on the other ring and lock out part to be done. I will jack up the other side tomorrow just to make sure every thing it as it should be there. The drivers side I re-did in the parking lot of an O'reilly's auto parts store so I didn't have the book with me so didn't get it right place was in a hurry.
Thanks guys for your ideas

Not up and going yet but close. I will button it up the rest of the way tomorrow and check the other side.I have only done 2 in my life and both where on this truck. But I have also owned only 2 4 wheel drives in all my life. LOL Learned to drive on snow and ice on 2 wheels and that is a trip LOL You learn fast not to make a mistake when on 2 wheels and snow or ice
