WOW - Just Had Thundersnow

Just had a bolt of lightning and thunder at 21 degrees here in central Illinois - Still snowing big rime.

PS: Not completely crazy - neighbors are calling and asking if we saw it.

We had some of that up here west of the Quad Cities also. Looks like I won't be going to work tomorrow, barely made it home in 4 wheel drive at 4pm. Chris

Remember that about 5-6 years ago during heavy, wet snow on Super Bowl Sunday. Pretty sure Bears or Cowboys weren't playin that year!

Thunder storms are bad. End up with lots of snow. Some ice etc. Had that happen at my place last year.

In 82 we had thunder & lightning during a snow storm. got about 20" and the next day the wind picked up and had drifts up to 20'

Thunder snow is the same as a normal thunder storm just it is in the winter and of course like a summer/spring thunder storm you can end up with lots on moisture.

I went to Eureka College 1966 - 70 there in central Ill. We had thundersnow several times. Back here in NE Pa. it does not happen. 4 inches today with 12 in. on the ground. Ed

Forecaster out of Grand Rapids MI tv station allowed that thundersnow is a real possibilities here.

Throw a Lasso around it ! ...You can keep it.. LOL .. here in SouthernIND , We Might be Spared ..so far Just Sleety SNITTY RAIN , THat Can make Animals and anyone it it get sick with a head cold ,, Sposed to be 40 degrees a midnite , then steadily drop to teens tomorrow nite with CRAZY wind and AnythingYOU GOT LEFT up there THAT IT FORGOT TO DROP til it Gets to US HERE ...

I have experienced thunder snow here in GA but we really didn't get a lot of snow with it. Go figure....

GUYS .. TV just annouced It is 53 degrees in Louisville at 11pm ... Were About to blow away ,NO Rain , eerie ... Certain change is on the way .. JUST HOPE WE LIKE IT ..

Didn't get any thunder snow this time but we had it about 3 weeks ago.

Plenty of the white stuff here in NE IL tonight. Winds have settled down to about 20mph. We had gusts to 51 earlier. Temp is 22 now. Supposed to drop to 4 below Wed. night.

Happens on the east coast of Lake Huron seevral times a year. Rather erie to see the entire white sky light up as blue glow.
