anybody know how to figure the total inches around a round cylinder.i have a 12ft diameter drum that measures 144 inches across how many inches would be around it ?

Do you want to know circumfrence or sq. in within a cylinder. To calculate volume use 3.14X radius squared X depth of cylinder. Remember Pies-R- Square, regardless of weather they are made from apples or blueberries.

Very simple Pie are square but isn't a pie round. Any how that is how you figure it out so 3.14 etc times the radius squared you you should have it unless I have forgotten something from 30 plus years ago

Well see I said pie are round. Been to many years since I did Algebra and geometry shoot that was back in the 70s so forgive me if I forgot a few thing since then LOL

old,

You're right, pies are round. This pi however is 3.1416.....

Learned pi x radius squared and pi x diameter in high school in the 50's. Somehow I haven't forgotten it.

Well last time I said somethign about Pie are square and the pie times the diameter etc I got shot down so any more not sure which is which. Seems that no matter what I say some one has me getting it wrong maybe I should just walk away form it all LOL Sort of like when I learned to play Chess I read a book then it took me a few hundred games to get good and then when I got good then no one would play me chess and now it has been a decade since I have played chess

As previously stated:

Pi(3.1416) times the diameter equals the circumference.

Pi times the radius squared equals the area of a circle.

Pi times the radius squared times the length equals the volume of a cylinder.
