During this cold and nasty weather, think about a Dad, family member or friend who is a World War II Veteran and look at the Honor Flight for next spring, summer or fall.
Free for the Veterans and cheap for the "Guardians".
Got to go with my Dad and one of his friends last September and I'll never forget it.

Reason I thought about it is we are having a Son's of the American Legion benefit for a Vietnam VET tomorrow night and downloaded pictures to show.

My wife and I happened to be at Reagan airport a year ago last fall waiting to board a plane to Omaha when they announced an Honor Flight was arriving at the next gate over.

It was awesome!! All activity in the area stopped and everyone gave the old gentlemen a standing ovation when they deplaned. There were quite a few cases of eye sweat on both sides.

Our plane was about 20 minutes late departing, but they can pour the coals to those suckers and make up time if they have to.

I would encourage every WW2 vet that can possibly make that trip to do so. I've been talking it up to a very good friend of mine (WW2 vet) to go. Well, he put it off when he was able to travel and now has back problems to the point he cannot travel. I'm hopeing he'll mend so he can travel and make that trip. Yes, I was at an airport when a flight of vets came in. Really made me proud to be an American. All our armed forces personnel, active and retired, are real HEROES!!!

My father in law went with the group from Virginia. Aparantly it's a whole lot bigger deal than just visiting the memorial.
