Hi Guys,

One of the biggest advantages of gettin' old is that when ya try to do somethin' and ya flub it up, ya really don't care. :>)

Listen if ya like,

Wow. Nice playing. A true professional musician. You play it better on regular guitar than I can do on pedal steel. Of course the original was done on a non-pedal steel. I didn't notice any flub ups; if you made any, they were covered very well. Your parts where you move off the main melody fit nicely in the tune. I've never acquired the talent to do that. If I try getting off the main stream, I lose my place which is the mark of a non professional!!!

I have a BBE sonic maximizer on the way. I can return it in 30 days if I don't like it.

Allen. I see you wearing a felt hat. Do you have any old ones that you are about to throw away? I use them to make wads for the muzzleloaders I shoot. If I get one from you, I will think of you every time I shoot. Please let me know. Thanks. Good pickin.

I thought it was great! I have been practicing Hank Williams sr If I can get my daughter to record me I run it up the flagpole, WARNING,,, It is no wheres near as good as your music !

Didn't hear any "free notes" on that one.
Me -- I have more time involved in covering up stuff.

That particular one we used to use as an intro depending where we were.

Thanks for the memories.

No Bob Wills but that is very good, steel guitar on a regular guitar is tough.
Your drummer seldom misses a beat.

You'll like it; promise ya!!!!!!!!!!!

Come right off your mixer board and straight line it's EQ. Then use the lo and hi contour to your preference. The only place you can hear the difference is live, right off your speakers.

However, that's exactly what ya want. :>)

You do good Pilgrim,,,,,,Hey was it Spade Cooley who made that originally????

Once I heard Chet Atkins play it and he noted the Steel Players wont play it anymore but I will

John,

From what I know (maybe questionable!) the original was done by Leon McAuliffe in the Bob Wills Western Swing Band.

I have a 4 CD set of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys with Steel Guitar Rag included. It says it's from 1936 and lists McAuliife as the originator. There are many comments from Wills during the tune which was characteristic of Wills. It also has some nice interludes on piano and horn (sax?).

Darned it I know, John.

I heard my neighbor up the road play it some 40-odd-years ago and it stuck in my head; that's all I can tell ya. :>)

Allan,

Would you mind pointing me in the direction of how to add the little high lighted entry in blue that leads directly to your video? I know it has something to do with the open boxes just below this message box.

when you open the link he has shown -- right above the one being played says 15 vids, click on that it will open them

Are you talking about how to build a hyperlink? I don't use the boxes, I just write it in.

Left pointing carrot, a href="the url address", right pointing carrot, the name you want to show for the hyperlink, left pointing carrot, /a, right pointing carrot.

Like so:

I thought it was great- and I know how difficult it is to mimic a pedal steel with a conventional guitar. I listened to the Bob Wills version, and can only suggest you yell out some "Ah, hah"s and "You play it, Leon"s with yours. And a big grin would be a good selling job at the end.

Since you seem determined to say something self-deprecating when you introduce your videos, the least I can do is give you some more material.

"Well, folks, I'm gonna play XXX now. Hope you'll listen. Also hope you won't get done before I do".

Keep posting. I'd rather listen to you than tell some ol' boy what kind of oil to put in the rear end of his H. Or his rear end, generally.

Maybe I'm not a music expert, but I thought that was great. If I send you a blank tape would you record some of your playing and send it back?

I do agree with some of the other posters. SMILE & look like you're enjoying yourself.

Now that I thought about it, I think Chet Atkins actually said, Im gonna play the Spade Cooley ARRANGEMENT of Steel Guitar Rag

Thanks Allan. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Now I feel a little more "among the smart people"!!

Hey! Wait a derned minute!

I just don't think that's right..........I mean, your tempting me like that! :>)

Those things sound so, so sweet......... :>)

Allan

Yeah, I know.

I'm sittin' there lookin' at the side of a car. Kinda forget the smilin' part. :>)

I'm toyin' with the idea of buildin' another CD. Would that work?
