old what year is your farmall H that is a parts tractor???

Wondering what year your parts tractor is. I looking to change out my pto on my 40 farmall H. It has the 1st style(flush with rear end, that has the 2 dogs that engage it) Looking to get the newest style that is splinded, and the output shaft from what I remember reading about when changing over to the newer style.
Let me know
Thanks a bunch

All 4 of the Hs I have are 1940, have yet to figure out how I did that since they all came from different places. I also did that with 4 Allis C all are 1946

So I take it the parts tractor probaly has the same crappy pto up as mine does. It was repaired when my grandpa bought it back in the 60's and he never needed the pto. I tried using it few years ago and repaired it myself a few times but a hay baler is just too hard on that style pto. Was just hoping your parts tractor had the newer style, I'll keep looking.
Thanks

Does the type you need look different then the other type. If they look different I could maybe look at all 4 I have and see if one of them is what you need. To me it does not matter if these are the old or new type

(quoted from post at 12:54:02 01/26/11) They were changed in 1942, so yours being a 40 H is the same as my 40 H.

Not necessarily. The PTO may have already been changed out to the later style, or the tractor may have come from the factory without a PTO, and later on the new style PTO was installed.

Well the other guy say the newer ones stick out and the older where flat. So here's a few pictures of what I have then we can go from them maybe

Rusty I just posted picture of what I have so please look and tell me what I have. Thanks. If it is the later type ALL 4 of my Hs have the later type on them

Would you believe it could be any one of the 4 since they ALL have that same type of PTO on them so either I have the year wrong on all 4 or they all have the new improved PTO. So yep I can sell that. Drop me an e-mail. I do not like to talk business on here since they to sell parts etc. Also it is the big 1-3/8 one not the older smaller 1-1/8

Some H's were converted to new style rear unit but kept old lug style countershaft by using an adaptor in between shafts, (rear pto shaft and couter shaft). Had a lug on one end of adaptor and splines on other end. Gets confusing.

Just wanted to tell you that after postin this I got a few emails with guys that already have the pto out and the countershaqft coming out of the back of trans that pto hooks too. So I'm gonna get one from one of them, should save you work from getting the countershaft out. Thanks for the replys!!!
