Just for your info.

I went to the Tri-county Deere dealer in Burton yesterday and the parts manager told me that 3 of the Bader and sons dealers are now owned by Tri-county. All 3 dealers are in the Saginaw area, Reese city is 1 location I dont remember the other 2.

I went there on Friday to get a new battery

The three Bader locations are Reese, Birch Run and Saginaw. Saginaw is a Lawn and Garden store.

TRi county took over Jan 1 I believe.

Ther are rumers that they will close both Reese and Birch Run and build a new store near the Beet Piling Grounds near M_46 and M-15

So is it the Birch Run,Saginaw,Reese stores or the St Louis,Portland etc stores then?
I hadn't heard it or seen the difference in the ads.
I think there are Bader Brothers stores and Bader and Sons stores and they aren't connected if I'm not mistaken.

Tri County is huge now. I"m in Sandusky, and they started out with the dealers here and in Marlette. They added one in Caro, and quickly spread to the others you guys mentioned. Kind of like Graff Chevy.

It is the Bader and sons stores that were bought the guy at the Deere dealer told me specifically, and I remember now it was the Birch Run, Saginaw, and Reese stores---Just like The other guy Hill posted.

Walking into that dealer and seeing all those new green machines is like walking into a candy store when you're a kid. I was lucky they had the battery on the shelf though.

Ya,I'd say you were lucky. If they had ordered it,the chance that you'd have gotten the right one would have been 50/50 at best.

Or Fox Motors out of Grand Rapids. I think they have 17 locations now. All different brands all over west Michigan.

You must be talking about all dealers. I ordered Oliver 1850 parts from Shaff implement in Champaign,IL. Only because its the nearest former White/Oliver dealer. They sent me parts for a gas. I told them 3 times it was a diesel, they must not have cared. Then they never refunded my money on the gas parts until I caught it a month later on my bank statement. NICE WORK GUYS!

I could write a book! Last bungle was a gasket set from the autoparts store right here a mile from me that I deal with almost daily. They had to eat that one because I had opened it,but it was a 4 cylinder set for a 3 cylinder engine. Left them scratching their heads too. They blamed the computer.

I first called Weingartz in Waterford cause they are way closer to me. But they didnt have it and would have had to order it. So I called Tri-county.

I remember my Dad talking with a JD dealer in Ingham County who is now long retired. He told him that the Big Boys from Waterloo had told him they only wanted to deal with no more than 5 entities per state. Didn't care if each "dealership" had 10 stores, just wanted to deal with only 5 business entities.

Yep,never heard the number, but when our good local dealer here couldn't get their contract renewed back in 91,the story was that Mother Deere told them that they weren't in their "Master Plan".
The other small local one location dealer just north of here closed two years later.

Could very well be. These things are being consolidated so fast it's hard to keep up. I can't even remember right now,the ones that Filmore took over recently. Voelker needs to be looking over their shoulder. They only have 2 locations and they're dangerously close to the Filmore dynasty.
Somebody at Deere would do well to read Walt Bueschers book "Plow Pedler". He was blockman for AC in eastern Michigan and northwest Ohio for decades. He starts with telling why AC bought out Rumley. It was to get their dealers. Then he tells about going to every town on the map, trying to get car dealers, independent garages, even farmers to become dealers. Finally tells about farmers driving right past dealers in their own hometowns to go to the next town to a dealer who fit their own personality, ethnicity or even religion.
Now,Deere wants these dealers a certain distance apart, run like WalMart, all the same. No personality, just business.
Some other company would do well to be watching this and going into these black holes that Deere is creating for themselves, then giving all of the incentives that they could give to get a toe hold in some of these neighborhoods.

I won't disagree with that, but Agco is going about it far worse then Deere as far as putting dealers out.We are 50-70 miles from any Agco dealer and 30 from Deere.Maybe it will change, but if the Agco dealer was old(AC-OL.-MF)then what ever he had is what you get help on and very very little on the others.AC is the only strong parts help we got. Oliver-White is 150 mile away,MF only is 50 away.J&D had 5 places under their name.

That's my fear too. I've always dealt with Hofferbert in Bannister for White and Oliver since they were an Oliver dealer. They've been staying off of Cards toes by handling mainly Massey. Card was handling mainly the orange Agco line. Now I'm afraid we'll loose Hofferberts and have to go farther to Cards and they won't have the parts when I get there.

Hello, Read some of your forums from 07.
You mentioned you had a new idea 329 super sheller

Thank you,
