Why does my cat wander around the house and occasionally thump his foot against the wall?

Not tractor related I know, but its too cold outside for him to go sit on tractors.

OK?? I'll bite. Is his thumper what?? Too cold to go outside?? Never seen a cat wear long johns so maybe that explains why he don't stay out very long!

He thumps everytime he licks out of the sugar bowl or pees on the counter top.

Depends on the animal.

If he is a "territorial" type feller, even a limp-wrist will mark.........

You guys may be right and I was thinking the same. Only thing is he is fixed and in 9 years has never done this in the house before.
He doesn't spray at all, just thumps.
The dogs sleep in the porch so maybe territorial over the food bowl more than anything. But again, the dogs have been sleeping in the porch when the weathers cold for years also so ????
