Tractor on Ebay--Location Pet Peeve

I just received an Ebay notification about a tractor being listed for which I have a standing search.

Why is it that when an item is available only for local pickup that so many sellers don't at least provide a state, region of a state, a county, or at least give some clue as to where or even what country the item is located in?

I can understand them not wanting to give the specific location, but a general one would be nice.

ARGH. Another useless Ebay listing. I won't even bother checking WHERE the item might be.

I have seen that mayself many times, How do they think they will sell anything if its a big secret? I dont think much of ebay anymore.

I used to buy quite a bit of stuff on Ebay but haven't bought anything from the listings now for several month, maybe even a year or longer. Now mainly just the things pertaining to my hometown which I rarely find elsewhere.

One thing that aggravates me with Ebay itself is the inclusions of advertising. Sort of like spamming when they attempt to force feed it to you--- as if they weren't making enough money without it.

Before the Internet, you had classified ads in the paper with nothing more than a phone number. You actually had to call and communicate with the seller if you wanted to find out where the item was.

Must have seen my rant as they have now added a location. About 1500 miles away from me.

I had clicked on the listing provided in the email to get the Ebay listing. It was where there was no location given.

Yes I could have written to ask about where the item was. I suppose it just takes a bit more effort for me to do so than the average Joe however. I keep security pretty high on my computer so to do much more than view an Ebay ad I have to readjust cookie acceptance, log in--generally with a different browser as Ebay doesn't seem to like my preferred one, etc. Then reverse the process when I'm done.

Instead it should be as simple as looking at the ad.

Guess I'm just getting grumpy in my old age.

Except, if it's in YOUR paper its not apt to be from another state or country, and if you have a phone number you used to be able to tell from the area code and exchange (second set of three numbers to you young whipper snappers)what the town was.
